Australia’s large format retail sector employs around 470,000 people on a full-time equivalent basis and accounts for more than 23 per cent of all retail sales. It also runs some of the most demanding built environments in the country: large floorplans, long trading hours, high lighting loads, and portfolios spread across metropolitan and regional sites with a mix of asset ages, tenancy structures and upgrade cycles.

That combination has moved lighting, energy and data from the back of the plan to the front of it. Store development teams are specifying to tighter performance and compliance standards. Asset managers want consumption visibility across every site, not just the flagship stores. Sustainability leads need reporting that holds up to audit. Landlords and tenants are working out who funds what, and on what payback.

This is the sector LPA has worked in for years, and it is why we are pleased to announce that LPA has been accepted as a Gold Associate Member of the Large Format Retail Association, the national peak body for large format retail in Australia.

The Association brings together many of Australia’s most influential retailers, property leaders, landlords, developers and industry professionals to support collaboration, knowledge sharing and industry advancement. As a Gold Associate Member, LPA will take part in forums, study tours, networking events and industry initiatives throughout Australia, alongside senior leaders from some of the country’s most recognisable retail brands and property groups.

We are joining to listen as much as to contribute. LPA delivers lighting, metering, controls and energy data solutions to retailers, landlords, developers and property managers, and the closer we sit to the people making portfolio decisions, the sharper that work becomes.
